Theorist and writer on art , literature, film and psychoanalysis, Leo Bersani, considers the keyword, Sex, in particular the obsolescence of sex both as a corporeal activity and a subject of discourse.
This lecture takes place at UCL and is part of Keywords, a dynamic exhibition and lecture programme presented at Rivington Place from 27 March until 18 May 2013.
Presented by Iniva in partnership with Tate Liverpool, the exhibition looks at how changes in the meaning of words reflect the cultural shifts in our society and is based on Raymond Williams’ seminal text - Keywords: a vocabulary of culture and society.
Biography
Leo Bersani is Professor Emeritus of French at the University of California, Berkeley. His books include The Culture of Redemption, Homos, The Freudian Body, Intimacies (co-authored with Adam Phillips), and "Is the Rectum a Grave?" and Other Essays.
